Are your kids feeling bored of school holidays already? Are they slipping into more & more screen time? Or if your house is like mine, they just seem to migrate from one screen to the next, watching a show, followed by asking to “Look something up” on the phone, followed by using all allotted time on the tablet and then asking for more…
This must mean it is time to build a FORT! Always a kid favourite – even bigger kids like to get in on the fun.
A basic fort just uses stuff you already have in your house like chairs, couches, pillows, blankets, sheets & cushions. Or, make it really easy and just chuck a large sheet over the whole dining table and let them create a cosy nest underneath. Make it personal with a custom blanket with their name featured!
Take your fort to the next level by challenging your kids to use their magnetic blocks to create a stained glass window as a feature of their fort masterpiece!

Once the fort is built, they will need PROVISIONS!
There are many fun foods that kids can make themselves – more on that in another post… but in keeping with our fort theme here are a few ideas for fun fort foods.
Build a mini fort by using pretzel sticks and cream cheese or peanut butter to stick them together. A fun project that will keep them busy while nibbling too!

Or cut small blocks of cheese they can use to build their own lunch tower. Fun for any kids who love to play with their food.

Add in some cut fruit & veg, a waterbottle each, and send them off to go live in their new fort!
Need even more cosiness?
Try a soft knit outfit for next level comfort on lazy days around the fort.
